Who likes buttons?

My buttons jars have gotten totally out of hand, and I have decided to pass on some of the ones that I'll almost certainly never get round to using, and am just hoarding like a mad old lady. Therefore, I've spent the day stitching some selections onto card, ready for the craft fair tomorrow. Rather pleased with them!

What I bought...

Here are most of the lovely goodies I treated myself to* on Saturday... I think my favourite is the amazing wooden chain link necklace which I will probably wear ALL SUMMER (if indeed summer ever turns up). I have realised that my necklace collection is ridiculously large for someone with only one neck, but never mind.

*or batted eyelashes until lovely boy bought them for me, having ran out of cash about 20 minutes in...

I also grabbed quite a few of these fantastic military badges, crests and medally-type things off the most lovely little man, which will be turning up in various guises in the shop over the next week or so.

Been buying yourself any treats lately?

Happy birthday to ME

Not to go on about it, but today is my birthday (shaping up to be best birthday ever) and as I write the boy is in the kitchen cooking a 'special secret' lunch.* Yesterday we spent the day at Portobello market and I have many lovely things to show off to you soon! So, while I go off to spend an hour in the bath, here's a pretty picture of some brooches on their stand all ready for my next craft market. Happy Sunday!

*will report back as to success of said lunch.

Etsy Heroes no.3

Today's etsy hero is the wonderful Angie of Norwegian Wood. If you haven't already come across Angie's work, then quick quick get over to her etsy shop for her beautiful and highly original stuff involving (among others!) fringe, chain, vintage bits and pieces and a collection of the most incredible leggings. How she has time to do all this, make a mini-collection for Topshop's flagship store, AND run a gallery/boutique with her boyfriend in Montreal, I'll never know. She's also just designed the most incredible collection of things for Shrimpton Couture.

Angie was also kind enough to take a look at my etsy shop when I first started out, and said some very lovely things, so we're a very big fan! (By we I mean just me, hence the odd-sounding we/a confusion...)

Shop Update

I've been thinking of trying this out for ages, carrying it around in my head, and have finally got around to it. Basically, it's two brooches joined by chain - inspired by vintage sweater guards and the like. I really like it when you can wear a piece of jewellery more than one way, and you can pretty much do anything with this! There's one available in the shop now, which is the only one available at this moment in time. I may do more, we'll see how it goes!

PS, matching brooch (centre) coming this week...

As promised, here are some little books I designed last term for an imaginary short stories book design brief. The photos aren't great (I'm struggling to find natural light in these gloomy days!) but you get the idea.

Meet Holly and Dave, who are irresistable bird brooches from Lazy Jane, which is full of delicious things but I couldn't resist these! I was so impressed by the packaging (who doesn't have a weak spot for airmail envelopes?). Lazy Jane also has a great blog here

My very talented friend Charlie took these amazing photos of stuff he found in abandoned buildings. You can go and see his work here.

GIVING IT AWAY

YES YES YES! The literally wonderful Angie is having a giveaway of a few of my little thingies over at her blog, lucky pony. Pop on over and leave a comment and maybe you'll be receiving this set of anchor-themed yummies. You won't regret it!
